Currently based in New York City, I discovered the magic of photography in the dark room of my childhood home in central Illinois. I continued to pursue my love for visual culture at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I earned my BFA in 2003. After graduating, I moved to Venice, California and began my career as a graphic designer and animator. While working in design, I intermittently took on jobs retouching photos. It was these projects that reignited my early passion for photography. As I began working alongside established photographers in Los Angeles, I found my niche.
In the blend of bold compositions and powerful use of texture, my photographs evoke the raw, multi-dimensional aesthetic of paintings and mixed media pieces. Each piece seeks to convey the profound beauty of decay.
Gritty yet mesmerizing, my work echoes the sentiment perhaps best summarized by Groucho Marx: “Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light.”
